From Tamar’s Desk: My Inspiration This Fall

Posted by Tamar Miller on

Hi friends,

The return of Fall always quickens my pulse: The fashion, the colors, the flavors, the subtle chill in the air. Our new collection is filled with colors in tune with nature, from mossy green to rich espresso brown.

Fall is a time of transitions, reinvention and much-anticipated books and shows, all of which I love. Here are just a few of the things currently getting me in the autumnal spirit—I hope they excite you too!

Cheers,

What I’m…

What I’m drinking: Seasonal lattes infused with warming spices like ginger & cinnamon

I’m feeling espresso this year—it’s one of our essential hues for the season—and that extends to my beverages of choice, too. When the leaves start to change, I invariably start craving the moment that spiced lattes show up on the menu. My favorite versions are less sweet so you can really taste the cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.
What I’ll be watching: The final season of My Brilliant Friend (comes out tomorrow!)

It’s no secret that I love author Elena Ferrante’s four-book Neopolitan Novels, and HBO’s faithful, beautiful television adaptation is finally coming out with its last season after a two-and-a-half year wait (!). It releases tomorrow, and I’m thrilled to dive into the world again.

What I’ll be reading: Roman Year, a memoir by acclaimed novelist André Aciman

Another great author! André Aciman wrote the critically acclaimed novel, Call Me By Your Name, and his latest, Roman Year, is a memoir of his family’s arrival in Rome in the 1960s after being expelled from Egypt. His prose is always lyrical, vivid and moving.

Where I’m traveling: Staycationing in Northern California & sampling our locally grown reds

For the next few months I’m going to be sticking close to my home in the San Francisco Bay Area—but there’s ample beauty to be found within driving distance, from dramatic windswept beaches to redwood groves to the Napa Valley vineyards. And of course I’ll be sampling some of our locally grown wines, like this juicy chilled red from Martha Stoumen Wines, a female-founded winery in Sonoma County.
What I’m wearing: The Carla, my new favorite flat—and a perfect transitional Fall style

You can’t go wrong with the Carla, a timeless Mary Jane silhouette with a feminine, perfectly placed strap. I’m wearing it in silver to add a little extra shine to my days.
