What Slow Fashion Means To Me
I've always had a passion for the idea of curation and held strong to the notion that there must be room for something different in the marketplace. Bells & Becks is a “Slow Fashion” brand because it’s just so fundamental to what I believe.
SPRING 2019 PRINT TREND SPOTLIGHT - ARCHITECTURAL SHAPES
There's so much newness happening with shoe shapes this season. There's a definite architectural influence (which we love) in both square toes as well as new and exciting heel treatments.
SPRING 2019 PRINT TREND SPOTLIGHT- SNAKE
Animal prints always work as wearable novelty in both apparel and accessories. This season, we’re seeing an emergence of python along with other “snake” embossed prints. This gives a textural element and adds interest to any shoe. It’s another way to do a neutral that is chic and interesting.
SPRING 2019 TREND SPOTLIGHT - WHITE
White is a classic color, but what’s new is the idea that it can be worn year round and not just from Memorial Day to Labor Day. White was all over the runways for Spring and showed up in some expected (pumps) and unexpected (white booties) way.
SPRING 2019 COLOR TREND - YELLOW
Yellow is the “it” color this Spring. Cheery yellows were all over the Spring fashion runways, and we’ve seen it on celebrities and red carpet looks, which generally means that it’s going to be an important color all season long. Marigold yellow is the dominant shade for the season.
SPRING 2019 COLOR TREND PART 1 - PINK
The newest news in pink is driven by the pantone color of the year: Living Coral. Pantone cites Living Coral as a color of “carefree happiness” and says that it “symbolizes our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits”. That feeling definitely resonates for me, as I believe people are looking for ways to feel uplifted in today’s landscape.
Year One is Coming to a Close
Looking back, the one thing I know I did well is execute on beautiful product. I very deliberately chose Italy as the place to manufacture the collection based on capability, quality, and of course, design aesthetic. No where else in the world can match Italian knowhow in shoe-making techniques, nor can anywhere else match the quality of leathers, and pure design sensibility.

This season, Bells & Becks is focused on the bootie. The bootie reigns supreme this Fall, and I’m super excited about how our assortment came together. There’s something for everyone, but we’re still completely focused on that perfect combination of distinctive, chic, and wearable with everything that we do.
Design Inspiration: The Making of a Shoe
After 25 years working in retail merchandising, I’ve developed a discerning eye and a keen understanding of what the consumer wants. I am a woman making shoes for women. I am not a designer, but I am an expert at product curation – finding the hidden gems in a crowded marketplace and pulling together an assortment that is going to resonate with customer needs. I’m bringing that curation approach to Bells & Becks.

When I set out to launch Bells & Becks, I knew that I wanted to focus entirely on wearable and versatile shoes, the kind of shoes that I and so many other professional, busy, and stylish women like me are craving but just can’t find easily out there. Here’s how I’m thinking about it:

My years of experience taught me that exceptional quality is the difference between “pretty good” and “great” in terms of the feel of the shoe when you wear it, the line of the shoe that flatters the foot, and the details that are executed perfectly.

Bells & Becks represents something very personal because it was born from my passion and experiences. I’m building a business on my own terms. I’m so excited and proud to be bringing distinctive, luxury footwear to the market. A lifelong dream realized!
